Choosing the Best Presentation Topics For Students

Choosing the Best Presentation Topics For StudentsPresentation topics for students are crucial to all good teachers. There are many people who are novices in the world of teaching, and the main reason is lack of knowledge on how to present information. A person who knows what he or she is doing in this field can always make a great career. If you are among those people, read on this article and learn how to be a great teacher. The first thing you need to know about presentation topics for students is that they should be clear, understandable, and well planned. First impressions last forever, which is why you need to make sure that your students remember you as a caring and effective teacher. Every word, every gesture, and every gesture that you make has to be well done. You need to do proper research before you begin a presentation. You also need to know the audience, which you can find out by going to school.Knowing the audience that you are working with will help you choose the appr opriate presentation topics for students. Many people make the mistake of introducing themselves by their name, which is totally different from the audience. Instead, you should introduce yourself as a teacher, or as a professor. If you are a student, it will be better if you introduce yourself as a student, but if you are a teacher, it will be best if you would introduce yourself as a professor. Although it might seem awkward to begin a presentation with a different title, the best thing to do is to make it look natural, as students usually will not be confused. The next thing you need to consider when choosing the presentation topics for students is the topic that the student will be most interested in learning. You need to know this, especially if you are trying to educate them about certain topics that are very important for them. Making sure that the students do not find the information boring or difficult, is also one way to ensure that they do not want to forget about it, no m atter how much they have already learned.Every single student is not the same, and each person is only interested in learning about a subject in a particular group. It is important that you take the time to explore different subjects and pick the topics that interest your students the most. When making presentations, it is important that you give the students topics that they can relate to, especially if it is related to their own life. This way, they will get interested in learning, because they will feel that they are able to relate to the information. If you are new to presenting, you can always ask your students for any needed information, but it is better to take the time to gather all the necessary background information that you need beforehand. You can get this information by going to school, and it can also be found in books or online. Another thing you can do is to find references about the subject you are going to teach. Do not forget to thank your students after you have finished presenting to them.Giving presentations is not easy, and it is not just about reading something to your students. You have to be an active participant in the teaching process, and you need to think about how you are going to make the information interesting and engaging for your students. Make sure that you make it fun, because they are not there to learn just to sit in silence, and they are there to have fun.Making sure that you have properly chosen the presentation topics for students is an important factor when you are teaching. Aside from that, you also need to be responsible enough in answering any questions the students may have regarding the topic you have presented. Good presentation skills are a must when you are teaching, and you can only get better when you practice a lot, or even when you get hands-on experience as a student.

Abraham Lincoln A Self-Made Man - 2023 Words

Abraham Lincoln, an autodidactic early American, grew up amidst the unlikely setting of the American frontier to an impoverished and undistinguished family (Donald n.p.). Lincoln built himself up in a world built to bring him down, and rose â€Å"from [these] humble origins in Kentucky, to prominent positions in legal and political circles of Illinois, and then to the pinnacle of presidency† (Donald n.p.). Within two months of gaining presidency, in contempt of Lincoln’s noble efforts, the American Civil War broke out amongst the country, and Abraham Lincoln, undeterred by the considerable amount of stress he was under, managed to keep together and ultimately strengthen the broken nation (Gienapp). Lincoln boldly proceeded to denounce and even†¦show more content†¦His father, Thomas Lincoln, thought that Abraham was â€Å"lazy because he preferred reading to farm work and often took a book to read between tasks,† and often criticized his unusual passion for reading (Gienapp 7). â€Å"Even at [an] early age, Lincoln’s real interest was politics. Literature Review on Autism Spectrum Disorders - 3442 Words

Literature Review: Autism Spectrum Disorders: What is Autism, how is it caused, and how can it be treated? The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Crystal Waynick April 3, 2012 Abstract Autism has become an increasing subject of interest, especially to researchers and medical professionals. This increase in interest is most likely due to the fact that autism is becoming an increasing problem in children, with the number of diagnoses doubling in just a four year period. In order to discover what may cause this disorder as well as finding effective ways to treat it, people must be informed and knowledgeable about autism. The current study discusses what ASD is, symptoms of this disorder,†¦show more content†¦Children with autism also suffer from several communication issues, such as failing or being slow to respond to verbal attempts to get their attention, developing language at a slower pace than others, repeating words or phrases that they hear, and using words that are strange or out of place, that do not really make sense to people other than the child and those close to the child whom are familiar with the child s communication style. The last important symptom seen in children with ASD is repetitive and stereotyped behavior. Many children with ASD tend to have odd, repetitive actions and behaviors that may be referred to as stereotyped behaviors. An example of a stereotyped behavior might be a simple gesture of the arm that is repeatedly done by the child. Children with autism often have one subject or interest that they tend to overly focus on. They tend to become obsessed with one particular subject, and will learn everything they can about the subject of interest. Because autistic children seem to display several repetitive behaviors and thoughts, a set routine is usually the best environment for a child with ASD (NIMH, 2011). While there have been many theories and suggestions of what may cause autism spectrum disorders, there is not one particular known cause of these disorders. He formed a regular working group In 1977 (which featured tenor Joe Lavabo) and recorded several more dates for ECMA, then revamped the ensemble to include guitarist Bill Frisbee in 1980. Montana was a huge influential Jazz drummer, composer, percussionist, and a much respected artist for what he did for Jazz music. Montana died from complications of melodramatics syndrome, a bone marrow disorder, early in the morning on November 22, 2011 in New York City at Mount SinaiHospital . He was 80 years old. Paul Montana released Lost in My Dream on March 9th, 2010. With Chris Potter (tenor saxophone), Jason Moran (piano), and of course Paul Montana (drums), they did a cover to Irving Berlins song Be Careful Its My Heart, was one of the few that stood out to me. Montana seemed to use a soft, relaxing, and mind clearing sound that made me feel different emotions and thoughts when I listened to it. There was no bass in the song which made room for more focus on the actual instruments and how they flowed together to make such a good cover.

St. Michael the Archangel Essay Example

St. Michael the Archangel Essay In 1886, Pope Leo XIII had a prophetic vision of wars and great sorrows of the 20th century. Fearful of the coming events he composed a prayer invoking the protection of St. Michael against Satan and the powers of evil. He ordered the prayer to be said at every conclusion of the Mass. Earlier in 590, Pope St. Gregory the Great led a procession of Christians as an act of penance and atonement of sins to stop the great plague that struck Rome. St. Michael appeared at the tomb of Hadrian near St. Peter’s Basilica with his sword covered indicating the end of the plaque. His name, which means â€Å"Who is like God† in Hebrew, was a battle cry in wars. Through his intercession the Lombards of Sipontum (Manfredonia) defeated the Greek Neapolitans in 663 while Christian soldiers crushed the pagan armies of Magyars in Bavaria in 955. These accounts portray St. Michael as the guardian angel of the kingdom of Christ on earth and the heavenly leader who fights all God’s enem ies just like he did as a royal champion and Israel’s great support during the 70-year Babylonian captivity. As the prince of all angels, St. Michael is always at the presence of God and has the singular privilege of assisting at the throne of the Divine Majesty. (Gargano Travel, par. 13). The Holy Bible tells some of the archangel’s intercessory works like in the Book of Daniel where St. Michael comforted Daniel after seeing the Hellenistic vision of wars and promised him to his helper in all things. 1†No one supports me against all these except Michael, your prince, standing as a reinforcement and a bulwark for me†. 2â€Å"At that time shall Michael rise up, the great prince, who standeth for the children of thy people†¦Ã¢â‚¬ Perhaps the most dramatic Biblical depiction of St. Michael was when he defeated Satan in battle demonstrating his greatest achievement. 3Then war broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels battled against the dragon. Although the dragon and his angels fought back, they were overpowered and lost their place in heaven. The huge dragon, the ancient serpent who is called the devil and Satan, who leads astray the whole world; was driven out; he was hurdled down to earth and his minions with him†. The early Church Fa thers attributed St. Michael as the angel who appeared in the burning bush when Moses spoke to God and the cherubim who guarded the Garden of Eden after Adam and Eve were expelled. With these scriptural passages, the Catholic tradition accorded St. Michael four principal duties: to continue to wage battle against Satan and the other fallen angels; to save the souls of the faithful from the power of Satan especially at the hour of death; to protect the People of God, both the Jews of the Old Covenant and the Christians of the New Covenant; and finally to lead the souls of the departed from this life and present them to Our Lord for the particular judgment, and at the end of time for the final judgment. According to ancient books if Satan is the ruler of hell, St. Michael is the governor of heaven. In the Spring of 1994, the late Pope John Paul II urged Catholics to pray to St. Michael in order to prevent the snares of evil brought about by abortion, pornography, child abuse, euthanasia, terrorism, and other mass killings. In many Roman liturgical rites, St. Michael is called upon for protection against evil. As the custodian and patron, the Catholic Church appeals for defense by the Prince of the heavenly army during the rite of exorcism especially in places that are infested with diabolical spirits; to fight the iniquities of the fallen angels and offer prayers to God for mercy. He guides the souls in purgatory who are going to heaven that is why during the offertory prayer of the Mass for the dead, the church pleads the heavenly Father that He may employ St. Michael in leading the souls  of the faithful departed to the holy light. As patron of holy souls, he assists the dying in their final hour to prepare them for their heavenly journey. With this belief thousands of cemetery chapels in Europe were dedicated to him. In addition, many other churches and oratories were named after him wherein he is placed in bell-towers as the guardian of churches against Satan. Through the ages believers have entrusted themselves under the protection of St. Michael and venerated him for his great role in the Church because he is the adversary of the devil and for many times the archangel came to their rescue. His well known apparitions occurred at Mount Gargano in Apulia, Italy around 494 where he was named as the patron in war. A memorial feast is celebrated in his honor every May 8 by the whole Western Church. He also said to have appeared in Normandy in 708 to St. Aubert Bishop of Avranches at Mont-Saint-Michel which is commemorated every October 18. The Christians in Egypt have placed the Nile River under his protection. After the evangelization of Germany, many chapels of St. Michael were built in mountains to replace the pagan god Wotan. In art St. Michael is represented as an angelic warrior, fully armed with helmet, sword, and shield (often the shield bears the Latin inscription: Quis ut Deus), standing over the dragon, whom he sometimes pierces with a lance. He also holds a pair of scales in which he weighs the souls of the departed or the book of life, to show that he takes part in the judgment. (Holweck, par. 15). In the image of Our Mother of Perpetual Help his Greek initials appear. He is seen holding the lance and spear with the vessel of vinegar and gall of Christ’s passion. This only indicates the important role St. Michael plays as intercessor of the Most High in dispensing graces to the people of God and protecting this people from the lures of evils. His warrior-like image made him the patron saint of soldiers, policemen, and mariners. In the Eastern tradition, the archangel is the patron saint of the sick having been called the great heavenly physician. This devotion originated in the middle of t he1st century in Chonae where the archangel said to have split a rock with lightning causing the spring of waters to change its direction because the pagans were trying to destroy the site dedicated to him. He sanctified the waters where all the sick who bathed were cured. Numerous cases of miracle healings have been attributed to the archangel. Christian legend describes Michael as the Captain-General of the heavenly host and the Protector of the Christian Nation against the devil. God has given Michael many great privileges, it is he who will sound the last trumpet at the final resurrection and conduct the souls to God. (STMAA, par. 2). He has fulfilled his responsibilities through centuries both in heaven and on earth. As a great messenger of God, St. Michael continues to deliver heavenly messages through his numerous apparitions. He has shown himself to some of the saints to help them in their works of saving souls and comfort them in their times of trials like St. Wilfrid, St. Bernard, St. Hubert, St. Francis of Paola, and St. Joan of Arc. While fasting for 40 days in honor of St. Michael, St. Francis of Assisi said to have received the stigmata during his vision of the archangel. Today the Catholic Church honors his feast day every 29th of September. This feast has been celebrated since the 6th century where a basilica on the Salerian Way in Rome was built in his honor. His appearance in Mt. Gargano is celebrated on May 8. This particular apparition became a significant site for medieval pilgrims. The archangel appeared to the shepherds on Mt. Gargano during the reign of Pope Gelasius. As a sign of proof of his appearance, St. Michael left his red cloak. But perhaps the best way to describe the role of the archangel is through the prayer composed by Pope Leo XIII. St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle! Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into Hell, Satan, and all the other evil spirits who roam about the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Universality of Canadian Government essays

Universality of Canadian Government essays Should the government of Canada continue to support the universality of social services by increasing the proportion of salaries given to income tax? This question hits a very touchy spot for all Canadians because some agree that a higher portion of an individual's salary should go to income tax, so a better standard of living could be made by all Canadians, instead of just to the financially blessed class of society. They believe that by the Canadian government doing so, it would limit the greed in our society, and make for a better feel of equality. Then there are those Canadians' who believe government should not increase the proportion of their salaries given to income tax because they believe the government should help encourage Canadians to be more independent, instead of depending on the government for all of their basic needs and wants. They believe that when they go out and make their hard earned money, they should be able to keep it, instead of giving most of it away, so pe ople that sit at home all day, even though fully capable of getting a good job, have the same benefits as themselves. My position on this issue would have to be with the Canadians who don't believe in the government increasing the proportion of salaries to income tax. I believe every man for himself. What an individual earns, he deserves, because he worked hard for his pay. It's not that I don't agree with government intervention, I do, I just believe it should be trying to help its people become more independent, instead of 100% dependant on its government. For almost sixty years the Swedish economy was looked upon and admired for its high standard of living. Everything, you name it, they had it. They had a system called cradle-to-grave welfare system, and it promised almost everybody employment. Everybody was guaranteed a free post secondary education and the same went with health care and pension plans. People looking in on the country would be l ...

Disaparity economics Who is the top 1% of the income and where do they Essay

Disaparity economics Who is the top 1% of the income and where do they live - Essay Example Disparity economics is influenced by many factors like globalization, political environment, and cultural changes. In America, it is claimed that globalization made â€Å"money go truly crazy† (Peterson, cited in Freeland). The lifestyle of the richest is a far cry from that of the poor. The richest are the globetrotters who never stay in the country for long. They know foreign places better than they do places in their own country. They spend more time with airline flight attendants than with their families. Most of these richest people are businessmen. A look into the lives and cultures of these people helps a common person to assess how differently they live their lives than a middle class person who has to deal with so many insecurities in life. For example, the employment market is so unpredictable because the economic condition of the country has made layoffs so common now everywhere in the US. All the capital gains keep rolling toward that 1 percent which already has enough of these gains. The result is that other classes, especially the middles class, is drastically robbed off of its gains. For example, Freeland in her very insightful book gives examples of Bill Gates and Warren Buffet to prove how staggeringly unequal the American society has become. It is claimed that both these men together have a tight grasp on as much wealth as the other 120 million Americans at the bottom of the wealth distribution. Gates and Buffet are two most important names of the top 1% of the US society. Buffet lives in Omaha in not a very luxurious home. Still, the structure of the house is very nice. He also just sold a luxurious vacation home located in Laguna Beach. It is safe to say that he lives a very comfortable lifestyle. Bill Gates lives in a very large mansion which took over 7 years and 63 million dollars to build alone. The mansion is located in Washington. There is every luxury imaginable

Critical Review of Philosophical Paradigms Research Paper

Critical Review of Philosophical Paradigms - Research Paper Example In the 1970s and 1980s, the mixed methods approach triggered a paradigm war (Tashakkori & Teddlie, 2009). Many of the researchers involved in the war sought to settle for an established rationale that would fit the combination of quantitative and qualitative methodologies in mixed methods research. The main challenge of achieving this was the fact that many of the existing paradigms governing both qualitative and quantitative methodologies seemed incompatible to be applied in a single study (Creswell & Plano, 2011). This paper will present a critical review of research paradigms used in mixed methods. Postpositivism is one of the common philosophical paradigms developed to support quantitative studies. Many postpositivists believe that reality does exist, although it exhibits itself in different sets of probabilities. Postpositivism highlights that researchers should maintain a separate distance from participants in a research. Usually, the researchers are outsiders (Christ, 2013). The reason for maintaining distance between the participant and researcher is to ensure that the study exhibits a high level of objectivity (Creswell & Plano, 2011). Researchers using postpositivism as a preferred paradigm seek to gain accurate and reliable data from the participants while reducing any form of bias. In order to minimize bias of any form, researchers prefer not to let their values or experiences influence the study in any way (Tashakkori & Teddlie, 2009). Postpositivism applies a deductive approach, which means that researchers seek to carry out a rigorous test of priory theories. Notab ly, the postpositivism approach may be used in the quantitative approach in a mixed method research. This is especially the case when a mixed methods approach comprises of a quantitative analysis and a qualitative analysis. Postpositivism is applicable in mixed methods research if researchers opt for the multiple paradigm approach. In

Do Animals Have Rights Essay -- Religion Papers

Do Animals Have Rights Animals are used to test the products that we use in our everyday life. Is it ethical or right to test our products on animals? If animal testing were not used, how would the safety of the products we use be insured? If animals were not used in medical testing, how would researchers come up with new medicines and vaccines? Different people have different opinions about this issue. Arguments abound for both sides. In order to have an organized argument, there must first be an agreed upon standard by which the opposing sides of the arguments are judged. For the argument about the use of animals for laboratory testing, that standard will be the Word of God. â€Å"And God said, ‘Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind.’ And it was so.† (Genesis 1:24) â€Å"Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’† (Genesis 1:26) God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’† (Genesis 1:28) It is very clear from the first chapter in the Bible that man was put over and in charge of all the earth. This means that man is superior to all other living things on the earth. Does this also mean that man has the right to use animals for laboratory testing? Jesus is quoted as saying, â€Å"Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to be great among you must be your ... ...t. Researchers should constantly be searching for new methods of testing products and medicines. The lab-grown-skin samples that are advocated by the animal rights groups are a terrific step in the right direction. There are obvious uses for these test samples. Many of the cosmetic products that are used today could be tested for toxicity using these alternative testing techniques. Hopefully they are accurate enough to attract use by companies involved in such testing. Using the Bible as a standard to judge the two sides of this argument shows that both sides have problems with their reasoning. However, both sides also have good points. It is clear though, that the laboratory testing of animals can be extremely beneficial to mankind. When a person's life can be saved or prolonged, the laboratory testing of animals is a necessary and acceptable practice.

Mentoring Program For Foster Youth - 1978 Words

Mentoring Program for Foster Youth: Addressing Psychosocial and Educational Needs Poor Academic Performance Sets Foster Children up for Failure Education is a crucial element in developing one’s full potential and a good predictor of future success in life. However, it should be noted that many children do not enter the school system on a level playing field. For example, approximately 75% of foster children are not performing on grade-level in comparison to children who are not in foster care, with some states reporting lower reading and math scores (Colker, Waterstone, Cannon, Rinaldi, Canty, Wettach, Berlin, Rosen Valverde, 2011). The majority of America’s 460,000 foster children enter the school system having an automatic disadvantage, facing many barriers to success that are not experienced by their fellow peers (Institute for Research on Poverty, 2015). Their educational journey is influenced by a number of external factors beyond their control. Failing to recognize the plight of these children by addressing their individual needs helps perpetuate a vicious cycle within this vulnerable population. Many wi ll continue to suffer from poor self-esteem with little motivation to improve themselves. This can lead to a variety of circumstances such as poverty, homelessness, and unemployment, thus helping to create self-fulfilling prophecies (Colker et al., 2011).
